Waste-to-Energy: The Right Path for Gujarat
Perspective · October 2026
Waste-to-energy is the right path for Gujarat because it solves two problems at once. The State is short of firm power at the evening peak, and its cities generate about 11,269 tonnes of solid waste a day. Waste is a fuel that arrives every hour, in every town, and Entity 1 Value Emissions is already turning it into power at Vapi, without incineration.

What is causing Gujarat's power crisis?
Gujarat Samachar (Vadodara edition, 20–21 October 2026) reported solar plants above 2 MW being told to cut output by 20–70%, while industry in Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Bhavnagar and Surat faces 4–8 hour weekly shutdowns. The grid lacks firm power, not energy. More on the industrial side in Gujarat power cuts 2026.
How much waste does Gujarat generate?
About 11,269 tonnes a day across 169 urban local bodies, according to the State's affidavit before the National Green Tribunal (OA 606 of 2018). The NGT's amicus note of 27 May 2026 also records that the Jamnagar waste-to-energy plant is underutilised.
Why is waste-to-energy the right path?
Round-the-clock power: waste arrives daily, so a plant can run through the evening peak and the night.
Close to the load: plants sit beside cities and industrial estates, so power is used where it is made.
Landfill relief and compliance: every tonne processed stays off the dumpsite and helps cities meet NGT targets.
How does Entity 1's waste-to-energy technology work?
Entity 1's RamCharan Super Synchronised Reactor (RSSR) converts waste into products and power in closed reactors, with no segregation and no mass-burn incineration. Mixed municipal waste becomes fuel and carbon (RCPPR), wet waste and effluents become alcohols and esters (RMECCR), and those products feed fuel cells from group company Entity 2 for round-the-clock electricity. It has run through the monsoon at Vapi, Ahmedabad and Tirupati, on Indian patents.
Has Entity 1 made power from waste in Gujarat?
Yes, at two Vapi sites.
Vapi Green Enviro CETP: 400 kWh of electricity a day from industrial sludge over a five-day trial, plus specialty chemicals, with no residue to landfill.
Vapi Municipal Corporation: RCPPR reactor commissioned on unsegregated city waste; trials ran 9–13 July 2026 with NABL-accredited testing, and it kept running through the monsoon.
How can Entity 1 support Gujarat?
Waste-to-energy in Gujarat: FAQ
Is Entity 1's waste-to-energy process the same as incineration?
No. Incineration burns waste and leaves ash and flue gas to treat. Entity 1 converts waste in closed reactors into fuels, carbon and chemicals, and makes power from those products, with no mass-burn step.
Does waste need to be segregated first?
No. Entity 1 processes mixed, unsegregated municipal waste as collected, which suits Gujarat cities where source segregation is incomplete.
How does a city pay for an Entity 1 plant?
Entity 1 finances, owns and operates the plant. The city or industrial partner pays a fee per tonne of waste processed, not for equipment.
